What is Dental Caries?
Dental Caries is tooth decay caused by specific acid-producing bacteria. These bacteria feed on food stuck on teeth and make acids as waste products.
Dental caries is a transmissible bacterial infection. Children can become infected by moms, caregivers, and siblings. It is time for a paradigm shift. We need to break the chain of infection.
CAMBRA<(Caries Management by Risk Assessment) is a systematic approach to preventing tooth decay and promoting oral health. It involves assessing an individual's risk for tooth decay, based on factors such as their diet, oral hygiene habits, and medical history, and then implementing tailored interventions to help reduce that risk. These interventions might include changes to diet and oral hygiene habits, the use of fluoride and other preventive treatments, and regular monitoring to track the effectiveness of the interventions. The goal of CAMBRA is to prevent tooth decay and to promote long term oral health.
